Preparation is still going on for the upcoming All Things Bright & Beautiful exhibition hosted by Mary Quinton Edwards. Hanging is this coming Wednesday in readiness for opening on Thursday.
PREPARING TO SHOW WORK
So much goes in to getting ready for an exhibition. It all starts months in advance when the exhibition is set and a title is announced. In this case I was given the title as the exhibition is arranged by another artist. In this case it was a good theme as it gives scope to include many of my styles of painting.
GETTING NEW WORK OUT THERE
An exhibition is always a good opportunity to showcase some of your recent work rather than just display work from previous showings that you have left.
I will be showing a mix of new work along with work only seen so far via computer or mobile device. This gives people the opportunity to see work in the flesh that they may have seen on my website or social media.
WHY EXHIBIT WHEN YOU HAVE AN ONLINE PRESENCE?
The internet is great to a point, but nothing can replace seeing a work of art in real life and real time. If you like a painting from a computer screen viewing you’ll like it even better when viewing in real life.
There’s something about the atmosphere of being in front of a painting and seeing it for real, so yes, exhibitions are hard work but it’s the ultimate environment to show your work to it’s optimum capacity. I hope I’ll see you there.
