This week has started off rather busily with the sale of four paintings to a previous buyer of my work, one of which is shown on the right. These now have to be prepared & framed, then packaged ready to ship. It’s always good to sell to someone who’s previously shown an interest in your work & has returned to buy more work.
A beneficial aspect of selling work, apart from being able to eat, is that it leaves more space in your studio to do more work & it also gives you more incentive to paint because you know there is a demand for your work.
With that said I move on to my current works in progress. They are both pieces dealing with a wide expanse of sky and the subject of escape. Sometimes you just want to escape from a place, a situation, a person. These two works attempt to capture that feeling.
They are both 30cm square so I’m slightly limited on the expressive marks I can make, but this restriction isn’t always a bad thing as it can bring out more detail in other ways. The foreground will be more detailed to bring in the perspective in contrast with the vastness of the sky space.
Look out for these two in future when I’ve added the completed works to my gallery.
